Commercial Strategy and Insights Lead

Singapore

In this role you’ll be working in the heart of the evolving Fintech space in Asia across both the B2C and B2B spaces, defining, developing and launching services that exist to bridge the gap between people and finance. Our ambition is to create new businesses & verticals which have the customer at their centre and our mission is to accelerate the digitisation and growth of the financial industry, empowering and connecting consumers to a better financial future.

The role exists to support the growth of Hyphen Group by working at the group level as an internal consultant for our portfolio of businesses (both existing and new), advising and supporting internal initiatives related to commercial strategy. You will be working collaboratively with product and strategy teams across our businesses to identify strategic market opportunities, design research approaches, and contribute to the creation of new value propositions, as well as ultimately bring these products and services to market, giving you ownership through the lifecycle of business and product initiatives.

In this role you will need:

Research expertise: Be highly skilled in a wide range of research techniques (including Jobs to be Done, ethnography, focus groups, survey design) to bring an intuitive understanding of why customers behave how they do. A strong qualitative leaning is a must, bringing an uncanny ability to dig into user needs, however tangled and complex, but being able to back it up with quantitative insights when required.

Draw on the latest thinking and techniques in user-centred design and design thinking, using a variety of different research methodologies.

Apply Jobs to be Done thinking to identify underserved opportunities in the market to create differentiated, digitally native propositions.

Direct and support Hyphen group’s teams to conduct end-to-end qualitative research including: recruitment, writing discussion guides and analysis. Develop our use of, and train others on, a range of techniques such as jobs to be done, ethnographic research, depth interviews and co-creation through early adopter community building and demand testing.

Business Strategy: You will report to the Chief Commercial Office but operate independently and confidently with clear strategic direction, manage senior stakeholder relationships and proactively identify business research needs and market/community opportunities. Champion and scale the value of customer research, branding and community initiatives in our portfolio to help make decisions that unlock real growth for our businesses.

You will be involved in conducting strategic research around the go-to-market strategy for new business initiatives, conducting the relevant analysis and putting in place a plan with core stakeholders to actually execute it, keeping in mind the P&L impact at all times.

Confidence and ability to run projects, workshops and training (both internally and externally).

The ability to think in an integrated way, holding multiple concepts and tensions in your head and finding a path forward. This is essential as the role will require diving in and out of our different businesses' discrete activities, as well as finding opportunities to cross-pollinate and create efficiencies within the group.

Strong commercial awareness that enables you to understand clients’ complex business problems, especially considering the multi-layered technology based product and commercialisation issues that exist in the B2B fintech industry, construct research-led project approaches, frame winning proposals and support Hyphen group’s development efforts.

Cross-functional collaboration: Partner directly with product managers, business leads, designers across all our lifestyle verticals. Translate customer learnings into actionable insights, presenting findings and leading workshops with cross functional teams.

Product: Advise and support research teams partnering directly with product managers and designers to evolve customer-centric digital propositions. Provide research coaching, and identify external training needs to get the best out of the product teams at Hyphen group.

Brand: Use audience insights to empower how our brands’ identities, values and tone of voice are brought to life in user experience, media content and product marketing touch points.

Communities: Identify opportunities to bridge user research and community building where relevant for our brands.
