As the primary point of contact for the risk and compliance function for the regional headquarters and local country hubs of the Hyphen Group you will be responsible for developing the compliance framework for the business. Our ideal candidate is an experienced compliance officer who is at the forefront of the ever evolving fintech and insurance regulatory landscape and has a broad range of skills (including compliance monitoring, risk assessment, regulatory liaison and advisory).

Who may have access to personal data?

Your information will be shared internally within the Group for the purposes of the recruitment exercise. This includes with members of the HR and recruitment team, interviewers involved in the recruitment process, managers in the business area with a vacancy, internal and external auditors and IT staff if access to the data is necessary for the performance of their roles.

Your personal data will be shared with Greenhouse Software, Inc., a cloud services provider located in the United States of America and engaged by Hyphen Group to help manage its recruitment and hiring process on Hyphen Group’s behalf.

Hyphen Group may share your personal data with third parties in order to, obtain pre-employment references from other employers, obtain employment background checks from third party providers and to obtain necessary criminal record checks.

How long do we hold your personal data?

Your personal data will be retained by the Group for so long as the Group determines it is reasonably necessary to evaluate your application for employment. If your application for employment is successful, personal data gathered during the recruitment process will be transferred to your personnel file and retained during your employment in accordance with the contract of employment and our internal privacy policy.

What if you do not supply your personal data?

You are under no statutory or contractual obligation to provide data to the us during the recruitment process. However, if you do not provide the information, we may not be able to process your application properly or at all.

YOUR TASK

  • Developing the compliance framework for the business, including creating policies, procedures, and guidelines; communicating these policies to all relevant stakeholders and working with the tech, product and operations teams to create effective monitoring of internal controls.
  • Reviewing emerging regulatory and compliance requirements (such as KYC, AML, CTF) on a regular basis. Embedding these updates within the compliance framework.
  • Developing Group-wide sanctions compliance procedures and guidance documents to enhance efficiencies and provide clarity on critical sanctions matters
  • Conducting risk assessments to pro-actively identify deficiencies or gaps with regulatory compliance; and providing guidance in the development of alternative solutions or implementation of corrective action (including ensuring resolution of findings from audits or external inspections)
  • Managing potential conflicts of interests associated with transactions undertaken by companies under the Group 
  • Reporting on suspicious transaction reports, regulatory breach reporting and others as needed to regulators. Regular reporting on key compliance metrics to senior management
  • Building strong regulatory relationships with the HKMA, the IC, MAS, the SFC and other regulatory bodies in championing the adoption of best industry standards
  • Providing sound, coherent and commercially minded advice and compliance support on all matters relating to the organization’s activities

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Finance/Commerce/Economics/Banking/Law from a recognized university or tertiary institution
  • At least 2-3 years relevant working experience in the areas of compliance advisory, AML/CFT, internal audit or risk management in financial services industries or fintech environment
  • Broad knowledge of the financial services industries (either banks, insurance and capital market firms), familiarity with KYC and/or AML/CFT regulatory requirements and international standards a plus
  • Experience working in a regional role or within the APAC region is preferred
  • Good interpersonal & communication skills
  • Good analytical skills; excellent organizational skills
  • Resourceful, proactive and able to work independently, determine priorities and meet deadlines
  • High level of integrity
